Hobby People Joins “Know Before You Fly” Campaign as a Supporter

WASHINGTON — The Know Before You Fly campaign today announced a new supporter, Hobby People, a retailer of unmanned aircraft systems with 18 locations in Southern California and Nevada.

“We welcome the support of Hobby People in educating people new to unmanned aircraft on how to fly safely and responsibly,” said Dave Mathewson, Executive Director of the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA). “With more and more people discovering both the fun and value of unmanned aircraft, supporters like Hobby People help to fill the education gap and keep our skies safe for everyone.”

The Academy of Model Aeronautics is a co-founder of the Know Before You Fly campaign, along with the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) and the Small UAV Coalition. The campaign was launched in December 2014 in partnership with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

“UAS hold tremendous value as a hobby, business or educational tool,” said Mike Greenshields, Vice President of Hobby People. “We are thrilled to be a member of this valuable campaign and to do our part to help all users of this technology to fly safely.”

Hobby People joins 10 other supporters of the Know Before You Fly campaign, including retailers, end users and members of the aviation community.
